Privacy notice
This page explains what information I collect, why, and what happens to it. The short version: I collect what I need in order to teach your student and to run a small practice, I do not sell it, and I do not use it for advertising. The terms of instruction themselves are set out under policies.
Collection
What I collect
From families. Your name, email address, a phone number if you give me one, your student's course and their class's pacing, and the scheduling and billing details needed to run the engagement.
From students. The work they show me and send me, the notes I take during and after each session, and my own running record of what has been taught and what still needs attention.
From the registration and introduction forms. Name, email address, course of interest, and anything else you choose to write in.
From this website. This site sets no advertising cookies, and I use no advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking tools of any kind. The site is served through GitHub Pages behind Cloudflare, and those providers keep the ordinary server records that any website generates: the IP address a request comes from, the page requested, and the time. Cloudflare may also count page views and referring sites in aggregate, without cookies and without anything that identifies an individual visitor. Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, and the booking widget on the private instruction page from Calendly; each sees the request that loads it, and Calendly's own terms apply once you open it to book a time.
Purpose
Why I collect it
To teach. Session notes and work samples are the reason instruction gets more precise over a term instead of starting fresh each week; that accumulating picture of how a particular student works is a large part of what the practice is.
Contact and billing information is used for scheduling, invoicing, and correspondence about the engagement, and to send the materials you registered for. I do not use it for anything else.
Minors
Students under 18
Most of my students are minors. Scheduling, billing, and policy correspondence go to a parent or guardian, and a parent or guardian is included on every channel I use to reach the student, including text. In practice that means a group message thread rather than a private one, so that a student's messages with me are always visible to a parent.
Parents and guardians may ask at any time to see the session notes, materials, and records I hold about their student, and may be added to the shared materials folder on request.
This site and this practice are not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Processors
Who else handles it
Running the practice requires a small number of ordinary services: video conferencing for sessions, a shared cloud folder for notes and solutions, scheduling and form tools, an email provider, and invoicing. These providers process information on my behalf under their own terms.
I do not sell information, share it with advertisers, or pass it to other tutoring services. I would disclose information without your consent only if required by law, or if I had a good-faith belief that doing so was necessary to prevent serious harm to someone.
Retention
How long I keep it
Session notes and materials are kept for the duration of the engagement and for one year afterward, so that a returning student's history is still there. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting requirements demand. Registration lists for the free sessions are kept until you ask to be removed.

Write to hi@katherinedelno.com to ask what I hold about you or your student, to correct it, to receive a copy, or to have it deleted, subject to records I am required to retain. I will respond within thirty days.
Any email I send that is not about your engagement includes a way to unsubscribe.
