Privacy notice
This page explains what information I collect, why I collect it, and what happens to it.
I collect the information I need to teach students and run a small private practice. I do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. The terms of instruction are set out under Policies.
Collection
What I collect
From families. I collect your name, email address, a phone number if you provide one, your student's course and class pacing, and the scheduling and billing information needed to manage instruction.
From students. I keep the work students show or send me, notes I take during and after sessions, and a running record of what we have covered and what still needs attention.
From registration and introduction forms. I collect your name, email address, course of interest, and anything else you choose to include.
From this website. This site does not use advertising cookies, advertising tools, profiling tools, or cross-site tracking.
The site is served through GitHub Pages behind Cloudflare. Those services maintain ordinary server records associated with website requests, including the requesting IP address, page requested, and time of the request. Cloudflare may also provide aggregate counts such as page views and referring sites without using cookies or identifying individual visitors.
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. The booking widget on the Private Instruction page is provided by Calendly. Each service receives the request required to load its content. Calendly's own terms apply when you use its booking service.
Purpose
Why I collect it
Session notes and student work help me teach with continuity from week to week. They allow me to track what has been covered, what remains uncertain, and which patterns recur in a student's work.
Contact and billing information is used for scheduling, invoicing, and communication about instruction. Registration information is used to send materials or information you requested.
I do not use this information for anything else.
Minors
Students under 18
Most of my students are minors.
Scheduling, billing, and policy correspondence go to a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian is also included on every communication channel I use with a minor student, including text. In practice, this usually means a group message rather than a private thread.
Parents and guardians may ask at any time to see the session notes, materials, and records I hold about their student. They may also be added to the shared materials folder on request.
This website and practice are not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Processors
Who else handles it
Running the practice requires a small number of ordinary services. These include video conferencing, shared cloud storage, scheduling and form tools, email, and invoicing. Those providers process information on my behalf under their own terms.
I do not sell personal information, share it with advertisers, or provide it to other tutoring services.
I would disclose information without consent only when required by law or when I have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm to someone.
Retention
How long I keep it
Session notes and materials are retained for the duration of instruction and for one year afterward. This allows a returning student's previous work to remain available.
Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting requirements require.
Registration lists for free sessions are kept until you ask to be removed.
Your choices
Your choices
You may write to hi@katherinedelno.com to ask what information I hold about you or your student, request a correction, request a copy, or ask for deletion. Some records may need to be retained for legal, tax, or accounting purposes.
I will respond within thirty days.
Any email I send that is not directly related to an existing engagement includes a way to unsubscribe.
